A TRIBUTE TO DR. MARIANITO ABAGON
May I share to everyone the incident that
happen at Judge Juan Luna High School many years ago. By the way, I am an
educator , taught at JJLHS for 33 years. There are lots of challenges in that
particular school but I Thank the Lord for always helping me to overcome such
setbacks, trials when it comes to problem students.
Tita Becky Abagon as we call her and Dr. Ito Abagon are good friends of my mother, Mrs. Dolores Paitone- Tuballes. The couple are kindhearted enough, they helped my mom in many different ways.
First that I can remember about Dr. Abagon , he was instrumental in the operation of our eldest brother, George, when he needed such surgery. Thanks God and Thanks to the expertise given him by our Lord.
Second, Tita Becky , as the Head Nurse of Philippine General Hospital (PGH) did also helped when my sister , Susan, 2nd to the youngest child needed to be hospitalized. Praise the Lord for the help extended, an act of kindness indeed.
Third when our youngest sister, Doris, who was transferred from a private hospital in Makati to PGH because of Aneurysms, with the assistance of Tita Becky again. She has always that kind hearted spirit . Never tired of helping us. Thanks God for her life.
The Abagon couple has always the willingness to extend a helping hand. God blessed their generosity, the act of kindness from within, it runs in their blood. To God all be the glory and praise !
Going back to Judge Juan Luna High School,
I for one has personally experienced the
mighty power of God in the life of Dr. Abagon . Here’s my story, my personal
testimony to the expertise of Dr. Abagon as a physician. Third year students
were practicing their cheering squad presentation. They were all very happy
repeating the actions and cheers. They formed a circle and kept on throwing up
in the air the male center student. All of a sudden the last throw- NOBODY did
catch that student. Screaming and crying filled the campus. Panic is everywhere,
nobody would like to touch the student. The injured student was brought to St.Agnes
located in Roosevelt Avenue . That night I went to St.Agnes together with 2
students. I saw the injured student with different tubes both in his left and
right nose, left and right mouth plus the dextrose and another tube in the arm.
I was about to cry but I have to be strong. I requested the two students to
earnestly join me in praying for the healing and recovery of their classmate.
Then after praying I saw the assigned nurse and asked who the attending
physician is. I was so surprised when she said” Dr. Abagon” with all eagerness
I requested for a piece of paper, but was telling the nurse “ I know Dr.
Abagon” In the piece of paper I’ve introduced myself” I am Delia Tuballes-
Gagto, the 2nd child of Mrs. Dolores Tuballes, Your patient is one
of my students, please, please, help him. I know you’re a good physician. May
God bless you and your family.”
After placing my letter of request in the patient’s chart, I have no idea what happened next I was already transferred to Dona Rosario High School , District 5 located in Novaliches, Quezon City. After many years one of my co-teachers from JJLHS passed away and somebody texted me that if I want to be there in the funeral service just proceed to Holy Cross Memorial Park and so I did. After the funeral service, somebody called me “ Ma’am Gagto” I turned around and to my surprise – The injured student is ALIVE “ You’re alive, Thank You Lord , he is alive.” “ Thank you Dr. Abagon, the student is alive” I tightly embraced him and keep on repeating the praises to God “ Thank You Lord , he’s alive.”
And that student proudly told me that he is now an English teacher in the public school. THE POWER OF PRAYER IS THE POWER OF GOD’S GIFT TO DR. ABAGON. A very rare opportunity to share with you ABAGON CLAN.
Just a motherly advice : Dr. Abagon, your father, did his BEST as GOD has assigned him to be a Medical Doctor, to be the Best physician in his time. Perhaps there are more people whom he had extended his help and he did it not to please others but to please and glorify God as his Lord and Savior . I firmly believed GOD has opened HIS ARMS and gladly WELCOME him in paradise saying , “ WELL DONE AND FAITHFUL SERVANT DR. ABAGON, COME ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM .”
Your father has planted the SEED OF FAITH IN YOUR HEARTS. Nurture it, let it increase and pass it on to the next generation. You are the next in line. You will not only do it for your father’s sake but for fulfilling the great Commission God as entrusted you. KUDOS Dr. Abagon , Tita Becky and all of you ABAGON CLAN. May your TRIBE INCREASE !
